On Thursday 21st March, the elegant West room of the Rosendale in West Dulwich hosted our Spring/Summer Fashion Show in support of our chosen charity, Karuna.

On the night

Our guests were treated to a glass of fizz as they took their seats and, to an uplifting, feel-good soundtrack, our seven models took to the runway…

Jaadu showcased a variety of looks from the SS19 season, beginning with our own pintuck blouses and Kathna stitch jackets whose vibrant colours perfectly herald the beginning of spring.

The new Ikat range also featured, along with the beautiful range from Maku – designed using traditional, hand-woven jamdani and Tangail fabrics.

The show culminated with evening wear, where rich jewel colours and sumptuous silks took centre stage, ensuring a glamorous finish to the evening.

The models

As usual, the show featured real women from 17 to 70, all shapes and sizes, to illustrate hoe wearable and versatile our clothes are. Our models were: Stephanie Maltman, Christian Neumann, Rachal Varughese, Lizzy Abel, Bea Tozer, Celeste Okonkuro-Davies and Colette Bloomfield.

Karuna

The Karuna Trust is Jaadu’s dedicated charity based in India and Nepal. This fashion show is the latest event to raise awareness and funds for their stellar work.

“Inspired by Buddhist values, we exist to end caste-based discrimination, poverty and inequality in India and Nepal.

Our work with individuals focuses on education, dignified livelihoods and gender equality, transforming communities and changing society.
Since 1980, Karuna and its supporters have enabled people to overcome caste discrimination, finally gaining their own dignity and realising their potential as human beings. Based in the UK, we work with in-country partners towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals of eliminating inequality, ensuring access to humane and decent work and basic education for all - with no-one left behind.”

A special thank you goes to Jo Partridge Hair and Beauty for hair styling and to Butler & Wilson for lending the fabulous jewellery that appeared in the evening wear section.
